The Rider & the Wolf — Grit & Thistle Film
Colorado USA
Nathan Ward is a filmmaker and writer who grew up without a TV in the dusty tumbleweed fields of Southeast Colorado, two hours from the nearest movie theater. After learning to write at the University of Chicago, he labored as a freelance journalist for nearly two decades, specializing in mountain areas, adventure, women’s education issues and environmental topics before turning those interests to film. As a co-founder of Grit and Thistle Film, one of his first efforts was to shoot the only film about the Browns Canyon Wilderness Study Area, a project which helped this wild area become one of the newest National Monuments in America. His recent projects have included profiling an education project for Buddhist Nuns in Nepal, highlighting a Bonpo Monk’s effort to preserve mountain culture in the Mustang Region of the Himalayas, and creating The Rider and The Wolf. This, his first feature film, tells the story and mystery of Mike Rust, the hall of fame mountain biker who disappeared without a trace in Colorado. www.riderandwolfmovie.com
