Mathieu Peteul

Ruins of Time
Born in Strasbourg, France (1980). Graduated from ESRA film school of Paris in 2001.
In 2006, Mathieu shot "Ultimate Super 8" in Geneva. This docudrama follows the work of a filmmaker, performed by André Dussoix, who still uses Super 8 cameras in today’s digital world. The film was hailed at several film festivals.
Then, he spent three years in Norway writing and directing his first feature film with César Ducasse: "Dark Souls" (Mørke Sjeler). Morten Rudå, playing a music teacher, would do anything to trace his daughter’s abuser. The film mixes horror with a stirring family drama. Amidst a social critique, "Dark Souls" warns us against our post-industrial society's over-dependence on oil. Selected in about 50 international festivals including the prestigious Sitges and BIFFF, granted 8 awards with 2 nominations for the Méliès d’Argent.
"Dark Souls" comes back to Norway where it is officially released in movie theaters (January 2011).
After this success, Mathieu decided to produce his new film in Brittany: "Ruins of Time", an experimental short film in which the sublime Maïko-Eva Verna plays the part of a pianist in the midst of an identity crisis, stages a vertiginous descent into the female subconscious.
The film is currently competing in many international film festivals.
