Randa Chahoud was born in 1975 in Berlin into a Syrian-German family. She studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin). In addition, she had internships with professional photographers, stage designers, and participated in practical courses with Michael Ballhaus during Martin Scorsese’s shooting of “Gangs of New York”.While studying, Randa worked as a director for several music videos and band documentaries for Universal Music, Wagram Music, Hipster Records, and Vielklang. As director and writer of the ZDF Science Fiction Series “Ijon Tichy: Raumpilot”, Randa Chahoud was nominated for the Grimme Award 2008 and Grimme Award 2012 and won the German Television Award 2007 (Newcomer). Additionally, she was a Berlinale Jury Member for the Peace Award and received a nomination for German Script Award for her script “Cirkofolie” in 2005. Randa Chahoud, currently, lives with her partner and her 4 children in Berlin.
