A path for music and images suspended between narration and experimentation, technology and tribalism. “Ballad of hypochondria (or Vibrio in love)” primarily focuses on symbolic work on the color scheme, with choreography by Hilde Grella and Loguercio’s playback that works sometimes with melodeon player Alessandro D’Alessandro, while the other guest vocalists (including Peppe Servillo, Rocco Papaleo, Maria Pia De Vito) materialize in the form of photographic masks or video cells observed on a small monitor in this surreal laboratory by the dazzling scenery and vaguely Kubrickian, with white-aseptic suits, including ampoules, microscopes and other improbable medical equipment, you try to isolate the love virus which has irreparably infected the musician (much to personally assume the likeness of vibrio) and could expand infecting the whole of humanity.

ANIMATION
Cage  (折枝)
(China) No dialogue
(2015) 4 min. (16:9)

DIR Pengpeng Du, PRO Pengpeng Du, SCR Pengpeng Du, DP , EDIT , MUS , CAST Pengpeng Du

Life is liberty in a cage. “Cage” represents a situation that is filled with a lot of constraints, or a habit or an addiction that is hard to get rid of. This project is to present a Chinese cultural and traditional visual style to audiences. On the other hand, CAGE tries to inspire them to recall their memory and consider what is the meaning of life to them individually.

The Story of Gin

(Ireland) In English
(2015) 1 min. (16:9)

DIR Daniel Cantwell, PRO Ailbhe Cantwell, SCR Daniel Cantwell, DP , EDIT Daniel Cantwell, MUS ThatBeat, CAST

This award-winning animated short film is about the popular spirit Gin and its interesting and varied history. The style harks back to the early days of jazz music and cocktails, in its punchy music and strong, moody palette.  The story covers Gin’s popularity throughout the decades and particularly its inclusion in cocktails and the cocktail era of the early 1950s.  Simple, graphic shapes and great palettes of rich colours were used to lend the retrospective feel that sums up Gin’s character.  Although it is an entirely digital animation, the line quality and paper texture convey a traditional hand drawn touch.

Perched

(UK) In English
(2016) 10 min. (16:9)

DIR Liam Harris, PRO Elina Litvinova, SCR Nathaniel Price, Eoin Doran, DP , EDIT , MUS , CAST Brian Gilbert

Hamish Fint, a crotchety old man used to a life of seclusion inside his submarine balanced precariously atop a mountain, struggles to maintain equilibrium when an unwelcome visiting seagull rocks his world. Directors Statement:Perched was my opportunity to make an animated short in the old fashioned way, with only the basics of paper and pencil. There is something so delicate and beautiful about this traditional technique and I really wanted to build a personal understanding of the character though this medium, with the intention of allowing the audience to make a more sincere and emotional attachment to the character.
